Beaded & beautiful

Beaded & beautiful

Given that my home is mostly coloured in reds and oranges, it's no surprise that sooner or later a doll reflecting my personal colour choices would appear. Red, orange, gold - with a hint of almost nothing else at all, this doll is definitely one of my favourites.

I once started a huge beaded wall hanging that (I think) was going to represent a 'tree of life' in some fashion (I wasn't really sure - just making it up as I went). After years of sewing tiny beads on and creating a good solid piece of ground, about half a tree and some serious celestial-looking rays, I stopped. I kept it stored away for years and, one day, decided to take it apart, given that I had moved on from the initial idea and would probably never finish it. All of which is a rather long-winded way of saying, it was good to get back to some beading work!

I use all kinds of odd bits of jewellery, as well as beads when I'm adorning my dolls. You'll notice a lot of chains - which are usually glued in place - amongst the beady bits. Anything goes really - as long as I can get the glitzy, richly decoarated look I want.
