Creating a magical felted person
I'm on a felted-person roll at the moment. Spending hours in my peaceful home, wielding a series of sharp needles and trying to miss my fingers in the process. This one was especially rewarding.
It was a commission, quite a specific one in a vague sort of contradictory way... And, by that, I think I mean that the person requesting him may, or may not, have had an idea what he should look like. It's always a bit of a gamble - a bit like trying to guess how someone sees the world and then needle-felt it into being. But, undeterred, I just started and he gradually took shape. He changed his attire a few times - at least he veered away from any 'look' I may have attempted to impose on him - and ended up rather dashing and a bit magical. Beads, buttons and a touch of very fine glitter add to his mystical charm.
He's in his new home now and, I believe, has made a suitable impact.
Phew...
There are three more felted people in the pipeline. No commissions, just creating as I wish.
