Materials & Construction
The needle-felted dolls are made with a wire armature (stainless steel & aluminium twisted together). Over this I spend many hours needle-felting wool in layers and colours to get the shape and colour I want. Everything is sculpted with needles.
Once the body is pretty solid, I start to create clothes. These are mostly wet-felted from merino wool with other fabrics and yarns for added interest and decoration.
The hair is usually an acrylic yarn, needle-felted in place. Beads, jewellery and other adornments are used as required. My figures often invole a staff - if they are standing figures. The staff is generally sourced from a hawthorn tree.
Note: This is not a toy and shouldn't be given to children to play with. You cannot take it apart or brush the hair.
Shipping
I will always re-use boxes and packaging whenever I can. Because of this, you may find that the box your felted person arrives in is made from 2 boxes... It will always be strong and secure, well taped and covered in brown paper. Inside, your 'art person' (not quite a 'doll') will be cushioned with whatever suitable packaging I'm using in the moment.
